Update: Man arrested on suspicion of attempted rape after police helicopter search

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape after a police helicopter search in Crawley.

Police were called at 10.59pm on Sunday (May 22) after a woman was sexually assaulted by a man at a house in Bewbush, said a spokesman.

He added: “The suspect left the house and a National Police Air Service helicopter was deployed to assist ground units in searching for him. He was located around 2.15am and arrested.

“A 23-year-old man from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape and has been bailed until July 22 pending further enquiries.”
