UPDATE: Man rescued from Brighton hotel fire

A man has been rescued from a hotel fire in Brighton this evening (Sunday, June 4).

An East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews were called out at 7.12pm to the Royal Albion Hotel on Old Steine,

The spokesman said: "Thanks to a swift response to the incident, as of 8.40pm the fire was out however we're checking for hot spots and damping down to ensure it does not re-ignite.

"Firefighters are also making a full search of the property. Eight fire engines remain at the incident. Police, fire and ambulance worked together at the scene.

"One person was rescued from a flat roof using the aerial ladder platform. They have been left in the care of the ambulance service."
