UPDATE: Man taken to hospital after minibus crash near Handcross

Emergency services were called to a collision yesterday (January 28) involving a minibus on the A23 Northbound near Handcross.

The incident, on the A23 South Handcross Exit, near Handcross Hill, was reported at around 11.15am

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said no one was trapped in the collision and a man, the driver of the minibus, was released from the vehicle before crews arrived at the scene.

He was given oxygen therapy and first aid by firefighters before paramedics arrived.

An ambulance and a paramedic car attended the incident.

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said the man sustained minor injuries including a shoulder injury which is believed to have been caused by his seat belt.

The man was checked over at the scene and was taken by ambulance to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.

The road was closed while the vehicle and debris were removed and reopened again at 1.55pm, police said.
