UPDATE: No swimming between Southwick and Ferring after sewage spill

FOLLOWING a sewage spill in East Worthing on Sunday (September 2), people are being warned not to enter the sea between Southwick and Ferring.

Red warning flags are now flying along the whole stretch of Worthing coastline, after a “technical issue” caused Southern Water to pump raw sewage into the sea at East Worthing.

A message from Worthing Council, posted on its Facebook page, said: “Some sewage matter is now visible in the sea so we are urging people not to swim between Southwick and Ferring for the duration of the sewage leak.
