UPDATE: Police appeal for information after fatal Bognor Regis incident

DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a 20-year-old man died following an incident in Bognor.

Police received a report of a hit and run incident in Rowan Way just after 10pm last night (May 13).

The injured man Charlie Hancock, of Nyetimber Lane, Pagham, was taken to St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, where he died in the early hours today.

Police are in liaison with his family.

Detective Inspector Wendy Burton of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: “We are appealing to anyone who saw two men having an altercation while in a grey Chrysler Voyager vehicle in Rowan Way, Bognor, between 9.30pm and 10pm on Monday, to come forward.

“We would also like to hear from any friends of Charlie who may have seen him on Monday as we are trying to trace his movements.”

A 41-year-old local man, believed to be the driver of the car, was arrested for grievous bodily harm at this time and is currently in custody.
