UPDATE: Waitrose respond after Storrington store attack

Waitrose has said they are ‘very thankful’ no one was seriously injured after a woman was attacked at their store in Storrington yesterday (Wednesday April 30).

Police and ambulance services were called to the store, in Old Mill Square, just before 3pm after reports a woman had been doused in inflammable liquid and suffered a cut.

Police said a 52-year-old man from Storrington has been arrested on suspicion of attempted arson with intent to endanger life and actual bodily harm.

A spokesperson for the supermarket said: “We are very thankful that no one was seriously injured and we will be cooperating with the police in their investigation.”
