Update: Worker injured in Shipley Bridge died in hospital

A man has died in hospital, following a workplace accident in Shipley Bridge.

A statement from Sussex Police said: “A 69-year old Newhaven man was injured when he was in collision with a digger-type vehicle on a commercial site where he was working on foot at Antlands Lane, Shipley Bridge in Surrey, shortly before 9.40am on Thursday (7 July).

“Sadly he has now died in hospital.

“The man had been airlifted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting with serious injuries, but died there on Friday (8 July).

“He is not being named at this stage as formal identification has not yet taken place.

“The Health and Safety Executive and Sussex Police are investigating the circumstances to see what offences, if any, may have been committed, but enquiries are at an early stage and there are no further details at this stage.”
