Zoe Bates has led the team at Valerie Manor through series of achievements, most recently being given an outstanding rating the Care Quality Commission (CQC) last year.

The home celebrated her anniversary at their residents’ group, the Rabbit Hole Club, named so because of the many furry friends who visit the home’s gardens.

Zoe said: “We have a residents meeting once a month and they asked if we could use our lovely library which has an old bar in it to have a monthly social event where the staff, residents and relatives can get together and have a few drinks and nibbles - what a lovely idea we thought and had our first one in November 2015.

“January would be the second club night and I was delighted to share my anniversary with everyone where I was thoroughly spoilt.

“I was presented with flowers, cards, balloons and cakes. What a special time we all had. Eight years has flown by with so much happening during this time but I must say the last year has been the most special as we were not only the National Care Team of the Year but we were the first care home in West Sussex to receive and Outstanding Rating from the CQC. What an eighth year to celebrate.”

Set in the heart of the South Downs, Valerie Manor is a family run home offering care for up to 23 people. After July’s inspection the CQC said: “The service was very well-led. There was an extremely positive atmosphere and people were very much at the heart of the service. High quality care and support was consistently provided.”
