This morning (Monday), Eastbourne Foodbank said items needed include UHT milk, tinned sweetcorn, tinned carrots, rice pudding, biscuits, tinned potatoes, Fray Bentos pies, pasta sauce and cereal.

A spokesperson at Eastbourne Foodbank said, “Over the last week, many anxious Eastbourne shoppers have stocked up on food supplies. The latest estimate is Britain has about £1billion worth of food now lying in kitchens, cupboards, and spare bedrooms. Thankfully, supermarkets have responded brilliantly and the shelves are re-stocking nicely.

“However, Eastbourne Foodbank is now in desperate need of your support. They are running out of tins and packets at a frightening rate. Please think about your extra supplies and consider donating a few of them.
