THE ONLY way was up for two lucky competition winners on Tuesday as part of the build-up to the Battle of Britain Airshow next weekend.

Romey Foord, from Seaford, and Belinda Kemp, from Hove, had won the chance to reach for the skies after entering a recent competition in a local newspaper.

Mrs Foord, a laboratory administrator, won an aerobatic flight with pilot Denny Dobson, who will be giving displays at this year s show.

Before her flight, Mrs Foord said: I just love flying and I just love doing aerobatics. She admitted to having a little experience of aerobatics, including flying with the Red Arrows, and in Spitfires, Tiger Moths and a Harvard T6.

Mrs Foord said she was looking forward to the upcoming Battle of Britain Air Show, which this year is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Lancaster, and added: It s one of the most amazing shows in the world.

Mr Dobson said one of acts he would be performing this year will see him pilot a plane 3ft above the ground at 250 mph and cut a ribbon with the plane s propeller.

Former trapeze artist Belinda Kemp won a wing-walking flight with the Utterly Butterly Barnstormers.

After the flight, Ms Kemp said: It s just the most incredible feeling. I want to do it again.

The Utterly Butterly team are Europe s only professional wing-walking team, and twins Rachel and Lorna will be performing handstands at 100mph as part of their air show display.
