Vacant councillor seat on Hailsham Town Council

A VACANCY has arisen for the office of councillor in the Hailsham South & West Ward for Hailsham Town Council.

The empty seat has been made available following the recent resignation of Anthony Williams, for reasons unknown, on Friday, August 24.

Deputy Town Clerk Mickey Caira said: “On behalf of the town council, I hank Cllr Williams for all his hard work during the past fifteen months, helping to achieve real improvements locally and achieving a great deal during his term in office. I would also like to thank him for his kind support and advice to fellow staff members. We are sorry to see Cllr Williams go and wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Requests for an election should be addressed to The Returning Officer, Wealden District Council, Pine Grove, Crowborough, East Sussex, TN6 1DH, by September 14.

Upon receipt of a request in writing to the returning officer from any 10 local government electors from the Hailsham Parish (South & West Ward), an election to fill the vacancy will be held within sixty days. If no such request is made the vacancy will be filled by the town council in the form of a co-option. If an election is called, it will take place no later than November 19 2012.
