Valley Park residents come together

RESIDENTS from Rye’s Valley Park development joined together recently to enjoy a community picnic and learn more about groups and services available in the area.

The event was attended by many local partnerships, including Hastings United football club, Rother District Council, the local police and representatives of the Hastings Trust, who discussed with residents how they can get involved with groups that meet in the community.

The day, which was hosted by housing association Orbit South, was held to boost neighbourhood spirit, build positive local partnerships and encourage residents to interact with the wider community –and was hailed a great success.

As well as an abundance of entertainment for children, including a bouncy castle, fun bus, face painting and a mini circus skill workshop, there was a garden competition for the adults to participate in, which was won by Orbit South resident Mr Freeman.

Valley Park resident, Sara Kendall, commented: “It is wonderful to see the community coming together to share ideas and having a proactive approach to the future of Valley Park and its residents.”

Valley Park opened for residents in June 2011 and consists of 70 households of mixed tenure, including social housing, shared ownership and private ownership homes.
