Veterans' artwork for sale at Hove funeral directors to raise funds for charity

The funeral directors is currently exhibiting a series of colourful animal-themed paintings, which have been created by staff, veterans and volunteers who work with the charity.

The paintings will be on display in the window and in the branch of Attree & Kent on Church Road until Thursday, December 30, and are available to purchase for prices starting from £25.

Blind Veterans UK works to provide vision-impaired Armed Forces and National Service veterans with the services and tailored support they need to lead independent lives after sight loss.

Staff at Attree & Kent approached Blind Veterans UK after the charity posted about an auction on Facebook.

Rachel Chitty, fundraiser for Blind Veterans UK was happy to provide a selection of artwork to be displayed inside the funeral home for potential buyers.

Drew McHenry, funeral director at Attree & Kent said: “We are committed to supporting and strengthening our relationship with the local community and the different charities it has to offer. We regularly support Blind Veterans UK, but this is the first time we are displaying their amazing artwork in our funeral homes.

“We’re aware that many people might feel nervous or apprehensive about entering a funeral home, so our window displays play an important role in breaking down negative stereotypes and reassuring people that it is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The artwork has certainly brightened up our walls, and I am sure it will raise a smile from everyone who sees it.”
