McCallum appeared via video-link at Hastings Magistrates Court on November 21. He was remanded in custody prior to an appearance at Lewes Crown Court on December 12.

The incident follows reports of anti-social behaviour on the Tilling Green estate, where there have been reports of threatened vigilante action.

Police say two addresses on the estate have been served notices to seek possession by the housing association.

Tilling Green Residents Association chairman Dan Lake, speaking before the latest incident, said: “I think it is safe to say the majority of residents on Tilling Green have never experienced anti-social behaviour.

“The overriding majority of Tilling Green live their lives peacefully and productively, but for those who are unlucky enough to have their lives blighted by individuals who don’t care how their behaviour affects others, any more than they feel they have any responsibility for the property to which they have been handed the tenancy, this is no laughing matter.

PC Paul Fielder, from Rye’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Anti-social behaviour on Tilling Green was raised as a priority at last week’s police panel meeting.

“Local officers will be paying particular attention to the area over the following months to maintain its status as a safe and low crime area.

If you live on Tilling Green and would like to discuss policing related issues please contact me by e-mail to [email protected] or by phone on 101 extension 66262.”
