VIDEO: Birdman runner-up pushes champ all the way

THIS year’s Birdman event saw the three longest distances flown in the competition’s history.

Tony Hughes, the 2013 condor class runner-up, pushed the reigning champion, Ron Freeman, all the way by setting a huge 132.5 metre benchmark in the competition’s penultimate flight. However it was not enough to deny Ron yet another Birdman crown.

Tony’s distance, which was the longest in the competition’s history beating the 106 metres Ron flew on Saturday, was soon to be eclipsed by Ron who managed 141.5 metres.

Watch Tony talk about his flight and how he thought the title was his in the video above.
