VIDEO: Car ‘well alight’ near Broadbridge Heath

A car has been damaged by a fire that broke out near Broadbridge Heath this afternoon (Monday January 19).

Firefighters were called to Five Oaks Road, near the Newbridge Nurseries roundabout, to tackle the blaze that broke out in a black Ford.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the vehicle was ‘well alight’ after breaking out at about 2.30pm, but fire crews successfully extinguished the flames.

Two hose reels and two breathing apparatus were used to fight the blaze.

Police were also called to the scene.

No injuries have been reported and the fire is believed to be accidental.

In a separate incident, firefighters were also called to a chimney fire in Storrington this afternoon.

A home in Aldermoor Avenue was affected at about 2.30pm.
