VIDEO: CCTV of man hours before he was found dead in Bognor Regis

CCTV footage of a man just hours before he was found dead on Bognor Regis seafront has been released by the police.

The footage shows Marek Pudlowski at a bank in Bognor the morning before he died. He appears to be in some discomfort and pain.

Police believe he had already been attacked.

Mr Pudlowski, 51, of Bassett Road, Bognor, was found on the afternoon of August 3 by a member of the public.

An exact cause of death has yet to be established, but he had suffered serious bruising to his upper body and police are treating the death as murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Johns, from the Sussex Police major crime branch, is leading the hunt to find out what happened to Mr Pudlowski.

He said: "We hope that by releasing the CCTV footage and the appeal it will provide new lines of inquiry and someone will come forward with the vital information that we need.

"As well as releasing it to the general public, the footage will also be shown at drop-in centres which are frequented by the Eastern European community."

Accompanying the footage is an appeal for witnesses and information made by Mr Pudlowski's daughter, Agniezka Pudlowski, which she recorded when she and her mother and brother visited Bognor on August 10 from her homeland of Poland.

DCI Johns was among the police and police community support officers in Waterloo Square that day - a week after Mr Pudlowski's death - handing out leaflets and speaking to members of the public.

The leaflets have been translated into Polish and Russian to widen the appeal for information.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0845 60 70 999, quoting Operation Langton.
