VIDEO: High tide batters Shoreham
A flood warning was issued by the Environment Agency for the 12.15pm high tide, with the Sussex Yacht Club, Surry Hard, the Riverside Business Centre, the A259 Brighton Road, Ferry Road and land at Shoreham Airport thought likely to be affected.
After a morning of blue sky, the rain began to fall just before 12.30pm, as the River Adur was at it highest point of the day.

Hide AdWinds up to force eight whipped around the town centre as the rain continued to fall for around half an hour.
Sandbags were placed at Sussex Yacht Club and along some properties in Brighton Road but although the water came partly over the A259, it was nowhere near as deep as it was in December.
By 1pm, the sun was out again and the water levels were beginning to subside.
The Environment Agency said tides would remain high over the weekend, but should not be as high as today.
