VIDEO: Littlehampton Town Show and Family Fun Day

MEMORIES of a Town Show and Family Fun Day under threat of separation were well and truly washed away as the event kicked-off once again in Littlehampton, on Saturday (September 14).

Last year, concerns were raised over the possible splitting of the town show and the fun day – a partnership which had successfully endured for more than a decade.

But as this year’s bonanza launched, the only concern remaining for revellers was the light drizzle of rain and grey clouds looming above which, although threatening, never dampened proceedings.

Organised by the Littlehampton Town Council in conjunction with businesses and community groups in the area, the day attracted more than 3,000 people.

The horticultural show was one of the best on record, with 758 entries being registered, 72 of which were from children.

Alan Humphrey, the show manager, said he was overjoyed by the turnout to the competition.

“This show was one of our best yet,” he admitted. “It was good because it wasn’t just the usual faces winning.

“We had newcomers winning prizes and cups, too, which was great.”
