Members of the Royal British Legion were out in force in Horsham town centre on Saturday afternoon to mark Armed Forces Day.

A display of armed forces vehicles caught the imagination, and a band performed classic songs from the bandstand in the Carfax as the RBL raised money for Help for Heroes.

Philip Harris, one of the organisers of the event, is also involved in the restoration of army vehicles - some of which had originally been used in the First World War.

He said: “Being an ex-serviceman I still have an affinity towards the forces, and that affinity has gone on to helping charities.

“Today is Forces Day and we are just making people aware and trying to raise money on behalf of Help for Heroes.”

Last week, the Armed Forces Day flag was raised at a ceremony at Horsham War Memorial in the Carfax.
