VIDEO: Recovery operation begins for Chichester A27 crash lorry

TEAMS are attempting to recover the lorry that hit a Nissan car on an A27 roundabout.

The accident happened at 1.05pm and the Nissan driver has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries.

As reported here, traffic has been delayed by up to two hours this afternoon and it has not been possible for cars leaving Chichester to get onto the A27 from Cathedral Way or Terminus Road.

Furrows in the grass on the Fishbourne roundabout appear to show the lorry was travelling east and drove straight over the roundabout, before the crash happened on the eastbound exit.

UPDATE

The Highways Agency reported at 7.30pm the road was reopened (March 5)
