A van fire caused major disruption for drivers in Polegate this morning.
Emergency services raced to the transit van as the fire engulfed the vehicle on Grand Parade.
The Choice rental van burnt so fiercely it melted part of the road.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service took just over 20 minutes to tackle the blaze on January 11.
Fire crews used breathing apparatus, foam and hose reel jets to out the fire out around 9,10 am.
The white van was later towed away but not before motorists sat in huge queues as traffic clogged up along the A27 by-pass junction while the vehicle was cleared.
The van caught alight outside the Thoroughbred pub.
The pub’s landlady Ruth Weisham said: “It was partially burnt out, just the tail end was left. All the front and the inside was gone.
“I thought it was a little strange because it was facing the pub, and not going toward Brighton or Eastbourne, so might have been turning around, I don’t know, but it looked very odd.”
