VIDEO: Worthing shoppers wowed by magic trio

THREE magicians wowed Worthing town centre shoppers at the weekend.

Dan Edwards, Marcus Lewis and Leon Simmonds performed a variety of baffling close-up magic tricks around South Street Square and Montague Street on Saturday afternoon (May 31).

Passers-by looked on in amazement as the men read minds and made cards, coins and other props disappear, reappear and generally defy the laws of physics.

The spontaneous street acts were arranged to promote the Smoke and Mirrors show at the Vintner's Parrot, Warwick Street, at 8pm on Wednesday, June 4.

Leon, 21, from Worthing, the Sussex Magic Circle's current close-up magic champion, said the show would feature a combination of classic magic and more off-the-wall routines, with one performed eating a large balloon during his act.

"Within the night we are trying to give a variety," said Leon. "It's not all on stage, making elephants disappear. It's not all card tricks. It's a bit of everything. We are trying to cover all the bases to give everyone a good night."

Jason Poxon, 22, was sitting with friends outside the Guildbourne Centre when he was approached by the group.

"They were really, really good," said Mr Poxon. "They just walked straight up to us and said they would like to show us a couple of tricks.

"It was excellent. He made a card appear from under his shoe, disappeared a whole pack of cards and read my friend's mind. It can't

be bad."
