Village Morris go to town for May Day fun

EARLY risers gathered to watch Sompting Village Morris perform in Worthing Town Centre on May 1.

Their celebrations included the usual mix of jingle bells, acoustic music, the cracking of sticks and the swirl of brightly coloured costumes. They are one of the biggest Morris teams in England.

For this special event, they were armed with traditional boughs of May blossom and attended by May Queen Harriet Steadman (right), the Green Man and the Sompting "horse".
