JIM AND DIANE HICKS: Who run the village Newsagents, opened their Seaford garden last weekend and would like to thank everyone who visited. In the morning it was wet and windy and Diane and Jim wondered if anyone would come but the afternoon weather brightened up and a terrific £430 was raised for the Trevor Weeks Wildlife Rescue Ambulance Service. The raffle prize was generously donated by Ann and Roger Jesty of Wynnes Garden Centre.
TEDDY BEARS WELCOME: There will be a Teddy Bear Service on July 19 at 11am at St Andrew’s Church followed by the Teddy Bears’ Bring your Own Picnic at 12.30pm which will be held in the church if it rains. This fund raising event is for the Children’s Charity of Sussex Family Support Work who help families build a strong family structure.
FESTIVAL: The Alfriston Summer Music Festival begins its tenth season at St Andrew’s Church on July 21 to 26. There is a full and diverse programme of five evening concerts, one lunch time at 1 pm on July 23, and the Corin Long Memorial concert on July 26 at 4pm. All details can be seen on the website at www.alfristonsummermusic.co.uk and tickets may be booked at Much Ado Books and Steamer Trading in the village, or on the door. This group of professional musician are an annual highlight on the village calendar.
THE CLERGY HOUSE: The garden will be open for a tour from 11am to 12. 30pm on July 21. Usual admission prices apply.
