PARISH COUNCIL: Options to improve the existing play facilities were set out by a group of parents advising the parish council. At the close of the presentation the chairman thanked the group for a really well-researched piece of work. Initial ideas on need, playground size and possible location were given, and these will be pursued. The Council will discuss the next steps with the group. A written paper on this presentation is available from the clerk.

Changes to the County and District boundaries were discussed. Proposed reorganisation aims both to make these coterminous, and to balance the number of electors in each to within 10 percent of the average population figure. The parish council agreed to comment on the East Sussex Boundary Review and will consider the District Boundary question at the May meeting. Electors can comment on the proposals: for County changes see, for District changes see

Prior to the PC’s April meeting, the NP Steering Group had met to clarify the way forward for Barcombe and how best to work with LDC regarding future housing provision in the village. It was agreed by the SG that positive action should be taken. It was felt that either a full Neighbourhood Plan or a more narrowly-focussed alternative could be undertaken. Given the Group’s limited resources and experience it was decided that developing, with LDC, a plan which would influence the mix, design and density of housing would be the most constructive activity. With professional help this approach is now under investigation, and the SG will report to the parish council as soon as possible.
