SUPERMOON: Last Monday morning we had a supermoon, when the moon appears to be 14 percent larger than normal due to the closeness of its elliptical orbit to the earth. This event also coincided with a lunar eclipse, when the earth’s shadow prevents the moon from reflecting light from the sun. The moon appeared red, a blood moon, but the exact colour depends on the amount of dust in the atmosphere.
