FILM CLUB: The film to be shown at the village hall at 7.30pm tonight, Friday, is Ilo Ilo directed by Anthony Chen. Set in Singapore in the late 1990s it tells the story of the friendship between a maid, Theresa, and the boy of the household, Jiale, which ignites the jealousy of his mother, during the Asian recession. The film won best film at Cannes and the London Film Festival. Doors open at 7pm for coffee and cake. Guests are welcome at £6 per head, on the door. Films to shown up to Christmas are The Missing Picture, Selma, Force Majeure and Argo, all on the last Friday of each month.
