LOVE BURWASH: The volunteers who turned out to help the parish council tidy the village for the winter have done a great job. They have washed down the road signs, cut back the brambles and grass from the verges, tidied the lower limbs of some of the lime trees and picked up lots of litter. The village looks all the better for their efforts so a big thank you to them all.

HARVEST SUPPER: Tomorrow, Saturday, evening St Bartholomew’s church will be hosting the annual Harvest Supper in the Burwash Village Hall. Tickets are £7.50 and include a light supper followed by a traditional Ceilidh. The dances will be called so no previous experience necessary. Sounds like a lot of fun, so why not call Vicky Patterson on 01435 884135 for your ticket or call in at the Flower House. The fun begins at 7pm.

HARVEST FESTIVAL: Services will be held in St Bartholomew’s on Sunday to celebrate the gathering of the harvest. There will be a family service at 10am and at 4pm United Benefice Harvest Praise. Churches from the area will join in the service. There will also be a family service in St Philip’s Church Burwash Common at 10.30am. You are all welcome to attend any of these services.

WALK: The next walk for strollers will be on Wednesday morning, leaving the Bear car park at 9am. This gentle walk is led by Ijon Jenner who has lived in the village all his life. He will be delighted for you to join him as he takes you on a ramble over the public footpaths that surround the villages. There is usually a fair number of both men and women taking this walk so you would be given friendship while taking some gentle exercise. Do go along and join them. The walk will return to the village by lunch time.

WHIST: The next fun Whist drive will take place on Thursday evening. We are always pleased to welcome new players to our friendly evenings which gives you 20 hands of cards and light refreshments for £3. There is also a raffle. Prizes are awarded at the end of the evening to the highest and second highest scoring man and women and to the lowest scoring man and woman.

QUIZ: There are still some spaces available for the fun general knowledge quiz evening on October 8. Teams of six are invited to enter at £8 per person to include supper. As always those wonderful quiz masters Steve Bennett and Terry Parker will be holding the reins. Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks and glasses. To book a table please ring Mary Taylor 01435 882107 or email Shirley@bowzell.co.uk
