PANTO: The final curtain has come down on this years production by the Burwash Amateur Pantomime Society. After six near full house performances the cast and crew can take a well earned bow and relax. They certainly did us all proud again with some new members on stage, young and older, we were very well entertained. I think they did a fantastic job with Calamity Jane the Panto, an unusual take in this their 31st year of staging them. Thank you to everyone involved and well done.

COFFEE MORNING: The Burwash Ladies Group are holding a coffee morning on Wednesday at Gideon House on the High Street. You are all welcome to go along and enjoy a delicious coffee/tea in friendly surroundings.

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY TALK: There will be a very interesting talk on Thursday afternoon hosted by the Burwash Horticultural Society. Mrs L Chamberlain will give a talk called Great Plants for Problem Spaces. This will be held at Burwash Village Hall, 2pm for 2.30pm. Entry for members is £1.50, for non-members £2.50. There will be refreshments and a raffle. You are all very welcome to go along.

BATEMAN’S: There are still three days left for the children to enjoy the Winter Garden Trail at Bateman’s. These take place from 10am to 3.30pm until Sunday. A chance for the children to follow the trail and discover that not everything in the garden has gone to sleep. Normal admission plus £1.50. There is to be another of Kipling’s English History lecture lunches at Bateman’s too. This will take place on Thursday from 11am and given by the very talented Geoff Hutchinson. Anyone who has seen Geoff before will know that this is one not to be missed. Booking is essential and the cost is £25 and includes a two course lunch.

BRIDGE: If you enjoy a game of Bridge then this is one for you. The new Burwash Bridge Club will meet every Friday afternoon from 1.45pm to 5pm at The Bear Motel. Some experience of Bridge is necessary but you don’t need a partner. If you would like to join them go along one Friday or call Jo on 01435 883654 or Pat on 882572 for more information.

PANCAKES AND PALMS: On February 28 you are invited to join in the pancake party at the vicarage. Both St Philip’s and St Bartholomew’s will be enjoying a pancake feast and burning last years palm crosses. The St Philip’s event will be held in the vicarage Burwash Common, with one at 3pm to 6pm for children and their families then again at 7.30pm for adults. This one will include the burning of the crosses. Please let them know if you will be attended. The St Bartholomew’s pancake party will be held in the vicarage at Rectory Close Burwash from 7pm. Again they will burn the crosses and enjoy many pancakes. I am sure they would be pleased to know you are going before hand to enable them to judge the mix.
