East Hoathly

CHRISTMAS CAROLS: The village tree has been selected and will be erected and decorated on the weekend of December 12. On Thursday December 17 at 6pm all parishioners are warmly invited to come and enjoy a glass of spiced wine and mince pies and sing a few well-loved carols outside the Village Shop. Singing will be led by David Burrough and the cast of Ubends’ forthcoming production of Sister Act. Guy and Liz will open the shop so that those last minute Christmas delicacies and gifts may be gleaned from the Christmas cellars. Come along and get the festive season off to a traditional start.

POST OFFICE TIMES: Leading up to Christmas, for the next two Wednesdays (December 9 and 16) the Post Office will be extending its hours to include 2pm to 4pm.

VILLAGE OF SANCTUARY: Steps are being taken to set up a group to enable members of our community to do something for people who desperately need a place of safety from acts of war or persecution taking place in their country of origin. A community approach to addressing this issue can be more effective as well as bringing together the different talents and interests of participants. If you would like to offer help, please consider the following: donating or raising funds, collecting or donating clothing, writing to your MP, offering support to asylum seekers or even fostering an unaccompanied minor (of which there are many). If you are able to help please e-mail ehvillageofsanctuary@gmail.com, call on 07970 657787 or visit the website easthoathlyandhalland.cityofsanctuary.org, twitter @sanctuaryvillage, or leave your details the village church porch where there is a Village of Sanctuary box.
