CHRISTMAS FAYRE: As Sue said last week the Christmas Fayre was a great success, and the sum of money raised for St Laurence is going to be in the region of £1,000, may be even more. There are still cards, calendars and wreaths for sale.

ADVENT SERVICE: The Advent service on Sunday evening was a great way to begin the season and there is even more to look forward to. On December 9 the University of Sussex will be holding their carol concert in St Laurence and all are welcome.

CONCERT: The next concert is on Sunday December 20 with Sussex carols and a mummer’s play. Look out for more details later.

SLEEPING ROUGH: Storm Clodagh is raging outside and I am grateful not to be walking out. Has anyone else noticed just how many more people are sleeping rough in Brighton? Why? Where are they coming from? They are not local, I offered some food to one person, but that is not what he wanted.

BIRDS: The birds seem snug in my hedges and the magpies have discovered I put out food in the front garden for my friendly robin, and three came down before the robin could get to it. I had broken up my morning toast, and one of them crammed his beak with about three pieces before flying off. I do not like them, but without doubt they are quite impressive birds
