CONCERTS: The latest in our musical treats here in Falmer takes place tomorrow (Saturday) when the Music Scholars of Roedean School will be presenting an evening recital of chamber and solo music. This continues our series of concerts from young musicians. The concert starts at 5.30pm and will last around 45 minutes. Admission is free with a retiring collection. Another treat from some young musicians will be a concert on Sunday from noon to 1pm given by the Angel Voices choir of youngsters. This is a small choir of quite young children who produce some wonderful music. They raise money for the Chestnut Tree children’s hospice and, this time will also be collecting for a cats’ home.
ARTWORK: While you are at St Laurence you can take a look at the Easter Fires exhibition which continues until May 1. We have been getting a lot of positive feedback from the public with this exhibition so why not come along and see for yourself.
BIRDS: We have a huge number of birds in the garden at the moment, some that we do not see that often such as Blackcaps. The other day we heard a tapping at the window and it was a long-tailed tit collecting cobwebs for its nest. The delightful little nuthatch who has been visiting all winter is still coming to our feeders so I am hoping it may be nesting in the garden. We also have to remember to shut the shed door in case a robin decides to try and nest there, as happened last year. Walking (or should I say sliding) through the woods last week, I also saw a pair of Jays hopping about together and a spotted woodpecker hammering away at the trees.
