SPRING: The spring still seems a long way off, but there are the first signs. I am enjoying watching the lambs in the field next to Ridge Road. There are only a few at the moment and they have an enormous space to ramble in. They are keeping close to their mothers for now, but I am sure it won’t be long before they are dashing about.

CONCERT: The first concert of the year is taking place tomorrow (Saturday) at St Laurence Church and it is probably one of the most exciting. We are delighted to have the famous Copper family coming to sing for us. The famous family group have agreed to come and sing for us to help us celebrate the 200th year of the present church building and it is a fitting coincidence that the progenitor of the family was born in 1817. The concert starts at 5.30pm but make sure you get here early as it will be busy.

CYCLISTS: It seems that the majority of cyclists are unable to read, as the newly repainted signs, in letters at least 6 inches high, telling cyclists to dismount before crossing the footbridge (the clue is in the name), are, as before, being ignored. This is stupid and dangerous (both for cyclist and pedestrian), but unfortunately there seems to be no way to stop them.

CARS: Car drivers, of course, are just as bad, but at least they can be identified by their reg number. My husband, taking a trip that took him on the A23, was waiting at the roundabout at the end of London Road when he witnessed a car deliberately slam into another car while going round the roundabout, both cars then sped off, one seemingly chasing the other.
