100 YEARS AGO: Sussex Express 10 December 1915. School Gardening – East Sussex Estimates. The following estimates were approved by East Sussex Education Committee at their meeting at Lewes on Tuesday, for gardening requisites for the year which begun on November 1. Barcombe Church of England School: Manure 14s seeds and potatoes, £1 6s 7d total £1 12s 7d. In regard to Bonner’s School at Maresfield, in 1913 an expenditure of 14s 7d for seeds was sanctioned, but the Managers purchased seeds to the value of £1 0s 4d and they now asked that the balance may now be allowed.
