LIVE COMEDY NIGHT: There promises an evening of rib cracking live comedy by some of the best up and coming stand up talent around at Blackstock Farm, Grove Hill, Hellingly on Saturday July 25. The line up is Richard Morton, Johnny Kats, Adam Broomfield-Strawn, Dave Thompson, Ian Baker and Josh Smith. There is a bar and gourmet burger menu from 6pm and comedy from 8pm. SUSSEX HERITAGE AWARD: Gill Hesselgrave, Chairman of the Hellingly Community Park Trust is pleased to announce that Hellingly Community Park (the old hospital grounds) was entered for a Sussex Heritage Award for restoring and enhancing an old landscape. Unfortunately they did not get an Award but received a Highly Commended Certificate and feel this is some recognition for all the work undertaken since 2000. There is something to celebrate this year with the majority of the Park being opened and now this Certificate, and there is the intention therefore, to throw a party after the AGM on November 13, so if you are a member please put it in your diary. More details will be sent out nearer the time.

COWBEECH SUMMER FETE: The date for the Dig For Victory summer fete is getting ever closer on August 2 and if anybody would like to enter any of the classes for Fruit, Vegetables, Flowers, Handicrafts, Photography, Cooking and Preserving then they should obtain an entry form available from the Merrie Harriers in Cowbeech on the small table near the door or from the Village Information Centre in Herstmonceux. Completed entry forms should be returned to The Merrie Harriers on or before the close of business on Wednesday July 29. Those who would just like to come along for an old-fashioned good afternoon out will be pleased to learn that the admission charges are unchanged for the 20th consecutive year at just £1 for adults and 50p for concessions.
