SOUTHOVER CHURCH :(one of the Trinity churches). On Sunday, the new 11.15 congregation at St John sub Castro would like to invite families who don’t go to church but might like to, to investigate what is going on there, so do please join them. Tomorrow is your last chance to see the exhibition at St John sub Castro from 11am to 5pm showing the history of the church (including recent building work) and its surrounding streets. We are grateful to members of the Lewes History Group who have helped us to organise this. Over 200 people came to the exhibition last week and it was described as ‘brilliant’. Would you like to watch England in their rugby world cup matches on the big screen in the church? Wales tomorrow evening and Australia next Saturday. We are having a BBQ tomorrow night and a pie and a pint for the Aussie match. Both events start at 6pm with kick-off at 8pm and finish by 10pm. For more information and to book your food go to trinityworldcupparty.eventbrite.co.uk. Dates for your diary: Sunday 4 October is Harvest Festival, 10am at Southover and 11.15 at St John sub Castro. If you missed out on being baptised we are having a baptism service at 6.30pm on Sunday 8 November. Please contact our rector Steve Daughtery on 01273 472018. At his recent sale of Southover Preserves Marcus Taylor raised £210 to help the work of two of our church members in Vinnitsa, Ukraine with orphans over the age of 16 who don’t receive any help from the state. Services this Sunday: 8am communion (prayer book); 10am morning service, a blend of traditional and contemporary, with choir, organ and band; 6.30pm contemporary service with singers and band. Please join us..

On Sunday 27th September at 11.15 am, there will be an informal service at St John’s for all who are interested in finding out about the Christian faith today. Coffee and child care will be provided, so do come and join us - on the corner of Abinger Place and Lancaster Street, just above the Pells.

Lewes House of Friendship: will be holding a Coffee Morning on Friday 25th September in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. All welcome to join us at 208 High Street, next to Flint Owl Bakery, between 10.30 and 12 noon.

Lewes footpaths group: A recent walk ventured into West Sussex and the Downslink path. This was formed by West Sussed County Council on the trackbed of the old railway line between Shoreham and Horsham. Starting at the former West Grinstead station where there is a handy car park the walk proceeded south until it was in the vicinity of Littleworth at Chuck’s farm.

After traversing two fields of cows and turning north, a coffee stop was made in the vicinity of Moon Wood. After crossing the A272 the walk went through a field of horses to Smallham farm and then back to the Downslink north of the former West Grinstead station. Robert led the walk.

Our new programme is now available and can be found in The Tourist Centre or at www.lewesfootpathsgroup.org.uk
