FOOTPATHS GROUP: Our next walk is on Sunday and will be at Lancing. This will be a 4.5 mile walk and two hills. We hope for as good weather as we had on our last Sunday walk two weeks ago when we had a ramble around Plumpton. This walk was led by Clare and took us from The Half Moon pub, past the Agricultural college and Ashurst Farm from where originates the wonderful organic vegetables which many of us enjoy. After reaching Plumpton Lane, we took a path which took us to East Chiltington Church where we had a coffee break in warm sunshine. Continuing along lovely country paths and skirting Novington Manor we were all too soon re-crossing Plumpton Lane again and then back through the garden of the Half Moon from whence we started.
New walkers are very welcome and if you would like to join us for the Lancing walk on Sunday do come along to the top North Street car park behind the police station ready for a 9.30am start.
WATER SUPPLY: Future local water supply will be the subject of a talk to the Lewes National Trust Centre’s next week. Jonny Burke, Water Resources Planner for Southern Water will be sharing SW’s plans for ensuring a continued water supply to the ever-growing local population over the next 25 years. New reservoirs? New pipelines? Come and find out on Thursday December 10, when Jonny will be speaking at 7 30pm in Priory School hall, Mountfield Road. Centre members and visitors are all very welcome at this event.
CHRISTMAS DAY PARTY: The Christmas Day Party for Seniors (on December 25) has had so many kind offers from helpers that we do not need any more volunteers to help, thank you. However we do still have spaces for guests, so if you are over 55 years old and will be on your own on Christmas Day, or if you know an older person who would like to come, please contact Gretel Scott (Tel. 01273 473904) or call in to get an invitation from the House of Friendship at 208 High St (beside Flint Owl Bakery).
CHRISTINGLE SERVICE: This year the Town Christingle Service, in aid of the Children’s Society will take place on Sunday December 20 at 3pm St Michael’s Church, High Street. Please put a note in your diaries.

On Sunday at 3pm we would like to invite you to our bereavement service at Southover. We would like to welcome all those who have lost loved ones and to bring a flower to present during the service as an act of remembrance. If you would like your loved one’s name read out please contact the church office on 01273 470616 or email@example.com Please join us for tea and cake after the service. On Tuesday the Men’s’ Cinema will be showing a recent blockbuster at the John Harvey Tavern from 7.30pm. There is no charge for the film and the bar will be open during the evening to buy drinks. For film and other details please see the flyers at the back of Trinity churches. Volunteers are invited to help sort and deliver donations of clothes for the homeless and refugees. This is not arduous, and most deliveries are local, although a car would be useful because of the quantities involved. If you can help even occasionally, please call or email the church office as above. Services this Sunday at St John sub Castro: 11.15am informal service. Services this Sunday at Southover: 8am communion (prayer book); 10am morning service, with choir, organ and band; 3pm bereavement service; 6.30pm informal communion service with singers and band. We will meet at 7.30pm in the St Thomas Court archway and end up around 8.30pm with a mince pie and warming drink in Eastgate church hall. Song sheets will be provided or bring your own carols for choirs book 1. Come and add your voice to our chorus.
