FOOTPATHS GROUP: In addition to its programme of walks the group provides a shorter stroll each month and in February this took place in Stanmer Park. With the aid of the National Park Authority’s information sheet for the area, the stroll took in some of the licensed footpaths passing Limekiln Wood and Piddingworth Plantation whilst returning to the villager through Upper Lodge Wood and Great Wood. Conditions underfoot were not particularly pleasant due to mud and cattle leaving some of the paths rather difficult, but the stroll was completed in two hours and most of the participants then had a welcome drink in the village tea room.

The next walk is on Sunday. Due to very boggy ground at Laughton, this walk has been changed from that in the programme. The walk will as usual start from the top North Street car park in Lewes at 9.30am but we will be walking from East Dean and take in Birling Gap and one of the Seven Sisters.

HOUSE OF FRIENDSHIP: Do you love your laptop or treasure your tablet? If you do, and can spare an hour or two a week to show others the basics of using an i-Pad or a laptop, we would really value your help. The Lewes House of Friendship offers basic lessons in computing to our members and we need more trainers urgently. Please contact us on hoflewes@aol.com, tel. 01273 476469, or call in any weekday morning at 208 High St, Lewes (next door to Flint Owl Bakery).

DAY OF PRAYER: Women’s World Day of Prayer, Friday March 4, 11am at St Pancras Catholic church, Irelands Lane. This international, ecumenical service has been written by the women of Cuba with the theme: Receive children, receive me. The speaker is Rev Sue Wilkinson of St Anne’s Church. It will be followed by a ploughman’s lunch. All are welcome.
