SOUTH MALLING SCHOOL: This week the school will be holding their much anticipated and nerve racking Sports Day. The infant children will take part in a variety of races in the morning. Then in the afternoon it is the junior children’s turn. All the KS2 children are mixed across the school into teams (red, blue, yellow, green). Last year the red team won the event (just). Who will it be in 2015? Look out for the results of this nail biting and fun event in next week’s news. On Tuesday the school welcomed the parents of children who will be joining the Red Rabbits Reception class in September. They were able to find out about the school from the staff and the Friends before being treated to a fashion parade by pupils showcasing the school uniform. It is the school Summer Fair on July 4 from 11.30am to 2.30pm. The school hopes to see lots of you there, please bring your friends and family. There will be a hog roast, ice creams, beer tent, bouncy castle, arena events, loads of fun and games and the fantastic auction. It will be a lovely day and will hopefully raise lots of money for the school as well. Thank you for all your support.

On Thursday the long awaited launch of the new Lewes Cooperative Learning Partnership will take place at 6.45pm in the Town Hall. South Malling children, with children from the other six schools in the partnership, have taken part in competitions, including eg writing and the design of a Logo for the Partnership. Examples of their work will be on display, winners in each category will be announced and the best logo will be used by a professional designer to design the Partnership’s logo. It is hoped that children involved in the competitions will take their parents to the launch. This is a very exciting venture for many Lewes schools so watch out for further information.

TRINITY SOUTH MALLING: Last week, South Malling Church Skittles Team made it to the finals in the tournament in Southover Grange. Check the story elsewhere in the paper to see if they won. This Sunday’s service at the parish church will be Morning Praise, at 9.30am, a fairly informal service led by the Revd Jeremy Bamber, the Associate Vicar, with the band. All are welcome.
