SOUTH MALLING SCHOOL: After the excitement of Christmas, the school has returned, ready for the new term and an exciting new year. The whole school learning journey for Term Three is The Apprentice, in which the focus is on developing entrepreneurial skills through design technology, science and maths. Next Friday (January 15) is the school dress up Business Enterprise day when the children are invited to come to school dressed as the profession they would like to be. This is always an interesting and fun occasion and they are hoping to be joined by several parents and relatives who will come and talk to the children about their jobs and the skills involved. During the Christmas holidays the equipment in the Reception garden has been replaced and new safety surfaces have been installed. It is all looking very smart now and will provide the youngest children with some great opportunities to develop their physical and creative learning.

SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: The church has enjoyed a good Christmas, from the children’s Christmas Craft morning on the Saturday before Christmas week, through to last Sunday’s Communion Service. On Wednesday of this week, with Twelfth Night, the Christian year changed to Epiphany, marking the arrival in first century Bethlehem of the three wise men and covering Jesus’ childhood and the years up to his baptism, with some of his first miracles. This coming Sunday’s service is the informal, all age Family Service. It begins at 9.30am and everyone is welcome.
