WALLANDS SCHOOL: What a wonderful week. On Wednesday KS2 had their Sports Day records were broken and great fun was had by all. Well done to all the children and thanks to the sports leaders and supporting adults. Ever since the 2012 London Olympics, we have kept a time record of events held on our sports day. The following children broke at least one record in their events: Freya Tourle, Hannah Russell, Hazel Astbury, Kofi Thomas, Natasha Clarke, Olivier Szala, Sam Jackson and Alice Brooker. Well done too to all the children and staff who took part in the staff versus children relay and netball. Year 2 and the Nursery have enjoyed delicious picnics. On Thursday Yr1 performed their end of year show to parents/carers, and Reception classes performed The Ugly Bug Ball, following their trip to Alfriston Forest earlier in the week. A big thank you for all the wonderful costumes. Clemmie Page and Hannah Russell had a pop-up cake sale for Cancer Research this week. Thank you to everyone who bought cakes they will be donating £53 to Cancer Research; well done girls. Congratulations to Mia Goode Yr3, who along with her dance crew Killabeez, won the Southern UK championship in Reading and they have qualified for the World Championship in Glasgow to take place in August.

LEWES NEVILLE WI: The WI met last Wednesday for their annual garden party at the home of their president Kay Hackett. It was a balmy evening and members relaxed in the garden and enjoyed convivial chat and a delicious spread they had all provided. Unlike previous years we were able to sit out without feeling cold. It was a lovely evening and many thanks go to Kay for offering to host this event. At our August meeting on August 19th at the St Mary’s Church Hall, 7.30pm, we shall be entertained by John Henty talking about Spike Milligan. Sounds good; I am looking forward to that and the competition is to bring the worst holiday souvenir we have.
