CHRIST CHURCH: Today, Friday, is our Messy Church event from 10.30am. Craft activities, worship and lunch, open to all ages. Worship on Sunday at 10.30am will be led by Rev John Gordon and there will be a Sunday Club for children.
NEVILL ARTIST: Over the past few weeks quite a few people have asked me about if I’m going to be exhibiting my works during this year’s Artwave Festival. ‘Unfortunately as I’ve been working with EN1 Prints and other printing companies, I’m not going to have the time to be able to exhibit any of my paintings during this year’s festival. But I would still like to invite anyone who is interested in my paintings, or would like to know more about my works, to please visit http://www.legavthorpe.blogspot.com where you can see all of the very latest of my creations. Alternatively if you would like to contact me I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hopefully I will be able to again be a part of the Artwave in 2016.’
LEWES NEVILLE WI: The August meeting of Lewes Neville WI was held on Wednesday August 19 at St Mary’s Church Hall. We were entertained by John Henty who spoke movingly about his connection with Spike Milligan who he met a few times. He played some recordings of Spike which had us all laughing although the best thing for me was to see that he still enjoyed them having heard them many times.
Plans are now afoot for our next meeting on September 16 which happens to coincide with the centenary of the founding of the WI. We shall be celebrating in style with a speaker, Teri Simmond talking about Decorating Celebration Cakes (Bake-Off here we come) and a finger buffet supper. The competition is for six centenary cupcakes which we shall enjoy after they have been judged, of course.
Lewes Neville WI will also be supporting Artwave providing tea and cakes for the Chapter House Art Group who will be exhibiting their work at Castle Lodge House on September 5 and 6. Visitors will also be able admire the beautiful garden by Lewes Castle. An irresistible combination: art, cakes and a gorgeous garden. See you there.
