ESTATE WEEDS: When I walk around the estate and see all the grass and weeds growing in the gutters and on the pavements, I wonder who is responsible for clearing it up. If the council walk around using a strimmer cutting the banks and verges, why can’t they also get rid of weeds and grass on the pavements at the same time? Perhaps the drain cleaners could bring a shovel or the street cleaner with his machine could actually get out his cab and also use a shovel. It’s an idealistic dream.

POND LIFE: We are having a lot of trouble with our pond leaking this year and are looking for a new home for our seven fish. If you are interested in some or all of them and have a fair sized healthy pond, please get in touch with me.

ST ANNE’S FESTIVAL: A week-long celebration commences at St Anne’s Church from July 23 to 31 of music, art, history, dance and poetry. It starts with a workshop and concert so why not pick up a programme from the church, which has all the details for the week or telephone: 01273 475201 for tickets.

WALKING THE DOG: We have Milo the spaniel this week and every time we look after him it rains, but we don’t get wet and muddy at all because he hates the rain and refuses to go out in it. The only problem is, he then gets bored and needs a lot of entertaining.

CHRIST CHURCH: Worship on Sunday at 10.30am will be led by Rev Geoffrey Whitfield and in the evening our minister, Rev John Gordon, will be leading worship with Holy Communion from 6.30pm.

NEVILL BONFIRE: The society will be holding a jumble sale at the Ringmer Village Hall on Saturday July 23. We will be collecting jumble on the Nevill Estate after 6pm on Friday July 22. Our next jumble at Ringmer will be Saturday September 17.
