LINKS: We went to see Around the World in 80 Days at the Lewes Little Theatre Saturday acted by the youth group. It was a very good production with all the actors playing their parts well and with clear loud voices which is a bonus for people like me who are hard of hearing. The wonderful performance of Passepartout by Lucy is I believe related to Mr Zara of my Dads generation, who lived in Highdown Road and who worked in Finlaters (spelling might be suspect), the cigarette and sweet shop at the top of the High Street where the kebab shop is now. His son has an office on St Annes Hill, a surveyor of some sort, who also lived on the Nevill. As its an unusual name, I am putting two and two together. If I am wrong someone might let me know.

ST MARY’S SUPPORTERS CLUB: Next Bingo night is February 17 starting at 8.30pm; on February 18 is a Skittles Night at 7 30pm. All welcome.

CHRIST CHURCH: Christ Church Tots meet today, Friday, at 9.30am for another session for pre-school children and their carers. There is no tots session next Friday, February 17, as it is half-term. Instead we have a Messy Church on that day from 10.30am to 1pm which is open to all, especially children and families, and finishing off with lunch. Our Sunday worship at 10.30am is led by our Minister Rev John Gordon. It will be followed by a Congregational Meeting to discuss various items of church business before sharing lunch together. Every Sunday the church has a trade craft stall selling a wide range of products produced or grown by people in developing countries, with sales supporting them economically. Our exhibition on the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the Tabernacle Sunday School, back in January 1817, remains on display in the church.

LANDPORT BOTTOM: The next meeting of Friends of Landport Bottom is Monday from 7.30pm to 9pm at St Mary’s Church Hall in Highdown Road.
