DIVERSITY: Having had a weather theme last week, I couldn’t let this weekend go by without a comment. What a difference a few days make; from sunny warm days to cold wet ones overnight. Much more typical February weather, which is what this country is all about. Diversity. No wonder we can’t make a decision on what we want from the EU.
CHRIST CHURCH: Christ Church Tots have a session for pre-school children and their carers today, Friday, from 9.30am to 11.30am. The charge is only £1 per family. On Sunday at 10.30am our morning service will be led by our new minister, Rev Andrew Mills, and will include Holy Communion. In the evening there will be an hour of music, prayer, readings and reflection beginning at 6.30pm. The Lent season has now begun. There are two Lent study groups in the local area, one evening and one day time. At Christ Church we have an ecumenical study group on five Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm (beginning March 14 and ending April 11) based on St Mark’s Gospel. At St Anne’s there will be a study course on Tuesday mornings (from Tuesday March 12 onwards) beginning at 10.30am with Holy Communion and discussion groups, followed by a simple soup lunch. All are welcome. Looking ahead, the next Think Tank meeting is Wednesday March 20, when Professor Avril Loveless will be speaking on Refugee Tales, immigration detention in the UK, beginning at 7.30pm.
ST MARY’S SUPPORTERS CLUB: Due to unforeseen circumstances the Bingo arranged for tonight, Friday, has been cancelled and will now take place tomorrow, Saturday, at 8.30pm. There will be cash prizes and a raffle. Everyone welcome. Get your thinking caps on for a Quiz Night hosted by Lewes Borough Bonfire Society on Friday March 15. Teams of up to six, £2 per person, starting at 8pm. Everyone welcome. Saturday, March 16, there is an opportunity for non members both adults and children to come along and see what the club has to offer. Pop in for a chat and a drink. There will be our mini skittles alley, toads and table tennis available. Everyone welcome.
