REMINDER: Just to remind you that the Newick Afternoon Club will be meeting on Thursday in the Community Centre at 2.30pm speaker being Jed Jones.

MEETING: Also on Thursday evening the horticultural society will be holding their June meeting in the village hall at 8pm. The speaker will be Heather McNiven.

COUNTRY MARKET: The market will be open as usual today, Friday, in the village hall from 10 to 11am.

BOWLS: Newick Bowls Club will be playing at home on Sunday against Vic Drive and Eastbourne Ladies at 2.30pm. On Monday there is another match at Newick, VPs Country v Coastal Host. On Tuesday the match will be Mid Sussex v Adastra at Newick plus John Spriggs v West Hoathly away, both of these games will commence at 6pm. On Wednesday they will make a journey to Seaford to play the Crouch team at 2pm. Fingers crossed that the weather will be warm and dry for all of the matches to take place.

CRICKET: Newick Cricket Club league fixtures this weekend are: The first XI will travel to Ringmer, the second XI will be playing at home against St Peters II, the third XI have no fixture, whilst the fourth XI will be playing away to Ringmer III. All games will commence at 1.30pm. The Sunday Friendly game will be at Newick against the Old Blues, this will start at 2pm.

CHURCH SERVICES: St Mary’s Church, Sunday, 8am Holy Communion (BCP) follow at 10.30am with Morning Prayer. Lifts can be booked in advance if you telephone 722582.

BADMINTON: The badminton club are running a Summer Badminton Season again in the village hall from 7.45pm on June 16, 23, 30 and July 7. The cost is £5 per person. They would welcome new members, so why not pop along with some friends and find out more about the game of badminton.

NEWICK CINEMA: The next film will be Paddington (PG) in the village hall on Sunday June 28. More details later.
