COUNTRY MARKET: The Country Market will be open in the village hall today, Friday, from 10am to 11am. Lots of interesting and tempting food goodies to purchase you can also enjoy some refreshments.

BOWLS CLUB: Newick Bowls Club have a very busy week ahead commencing tomorrow, Saturday, with a game against Peacehaven at home, then on Sunday they will be playing away at Uckfield. Both games will start at 2.30pm. The evening games on Tuesday are Mid-Sussex v Adastra away and John Spriggs v West Hoathly at 6pm. On Wednesday they have a home fixture with Colemans Hatch, on Thursday they will travel to Hurstpierpoint. These matches will also commence at 2.30pm. Fingers crossed that the good weather continues. Don’t forget the coffee morning in the clubhouse Mables Road from 10am to mid-day.

CRICKET: The cricket fixture for this weekend are; first XI will be playing at home against Plumpton and East Chiltington,, the second XI are playing away at Maresfield, the third XI are also playing way against Uckfield Anderida II, the fourth XI will be playing at home on the Temple Grove ground against Newhaven III. All of this matches will commence at 1.30pm. The Sunday friendly games will be against Dads v Lads at 2pm. There is also a match on Tuesday at home. The vising team will be Checkendon at 2pm The Junior Under 13’s will be playing Southwick away at 6pm.

CHURCH SERVICES: Services this weekend at St Mary’s Church are 8am Holy Communion, followed by Holy Communion morning service at 10.30am.

NEWICK WI: The meeting this month will take place on July 23 when their speaker is Irene Eltringham-Wilson, her talk entitled Expect the Unexpected a B&B. There is never a dull moment for Irene and her husband running the B&B at Butlers Farmhouse, they also appeared in channel 4 programme Four in a Bed. Visitors are always welcome to join the WI for this very interesting talk, they will be meeting the Community Centre at 7.45pm. For further details telephone 01825 722907.

NEWICK CINEMA: The next film, on Sunday July 26, is Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel in the village hall. Doors open at 7pm film will commence at 7.30pm. Licensed bar and refreshments. Tickets are £6 on the door or you can email Please try and see this film, if there are not sufficient people attending you could possible loss the cinema for good. Use it or lose it.
