COUNTRY MARKET: The market will be open today, Friday, from 10am till 11am in the village hall. Why not pop along and see what available the fresh local vegetable and summer flowers, plus lots of tempting goodies for you to eat.
BOWLS: Newick Bowls Club fixtures this weekend are tomorrow, Saturday, at home against East Grinstead at 2.30pm. On Sunday they will be travelling to Hampden Park they should start playing at 2pm. There are two evening games on Tuesday Mid Sussex v Handcross at home and the away games is John Spriggs v Popes Mead. Both games will commence at 6pm. On Wednesday afternoon they will travel to Lindfield, the match starts at 2pm. On Thursday there is a home fixture against Hawards Heath Ladies 2pm.
CRICKET: The cricketers have another busy weekend. Tomorrow, Saturday, the first XI are playing against Buxted Park at Sheffield Park, the second XI will play away to Ditchling II, the third XI play away against Little Common Ramblers, and the fourth XI will be playing on the Temple Grove ground against Heathfield Park III. All of these fixture will commence at 1.30pm. No doubt this Sunday there will be some very interesting cricketers visiting Newick for the home fixture against Piers Morgan XI. This game will commence at 1.30pm. Fingers crossed that the weather will be warm and sunny for all the sporting activities in Newick. On Wednesday there is an afternoon home fixture against the Missing Bail, Rotterdam at 2pm. The junior fixture for the under 13’s are away against Lewes Priory at 6pm.
CHURCH SERVICES: Services at St Mary’s Church this Sunday are 8am Holy Communion followed by Informal Morning Pray at 10.30am. A lift to church can be booked in advance just telephone 722582.

ANNUAL SHOW: Newick Horticultural Society Annual Show will take place on September 5.
MEETING: The Fletching, Weald Ukulele Players and Singers meet at 8pm every second and fourth Tuesday in the Rose and Crown pub. They are a mix of absolute beginners and some more accomplished players and sing a variety of popular songs and generally have a good time. Please don’t be put off if you have never played a note on the ukulele before, just pop along and see for yourself what it’s all about.
