COUNTRY MARKET: The market will be open today, Friday, in the village hall from 10am to 11am. There is still a good selection of locally grown vegetables and flowers available plus homemade cakes and lovely savoury items. Why not get there nicer and early, to ensure you are not disappointed? When you have purchased all your goodies you can then enjoy a cuppa.

BOWLS: The bowls club will be playing at home tomorrow, Saturday, against the Isle of Thorns at 2.30pm. On Sunday there will be an Invitation Triples match, I assume this will also commence at 2.30pm. The Tuesday evening games are Mid-Sussex v Southwater at home and John Spriggs v Uckfield away. Both of these games will commence at 6pm. On Wednesday the home fixture is against Haywards Heath at 2.30pm.

CRICKET: The cricket club have a busy weekend ahead of them. Tomorrow, Saturday, the first XI are playing away at Battle, the second XI will be playing at home and the third XI will be playing on the Temple Gove ground against Burwash Weald. According to the fixture list there is no game for the fourth XI. All the league games will start at 1.30pm. Sunday’s friendly game is against Eclipse at 1.30pm. There will be a mid-week fixture on Thursday when Mid Sussex Cricket Club will come to Newick.

CHURCH SERVICES: Sunday Services this weekend are 8am Holy Communion followed at 10.30am with Morning Prayer. Everyone most welcome to these services.

AFTERNOON CLUB: Newick Afternoon Club will be meeting on Thursday at 2.30pm in the Community Centre. The speaker this month is Andy Wilson his subject being The Butterflies of Sussex. This no doubt will be a very interesting talk with lovely colourful pictures.
